  • William H. Wilcox
    Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors Member
    Bill joined USPI as its president and a director in September 1998 and has served as our CEO since April 2004. He is a member of the executive committee of USPI’s board. He also serves on the board of European Surgical Partners which owns and operates Aspen Healthcare Ltd. in the United Kingdom. Bill served as president and chief executive officer of United Dental Care, Inc. from 1996 until joining USPI. He served as president of the Surgery Group of HCA and president and chief executive officer of the Ambulatory Surgery Division of HCA from 1994 until 1996. Prior to that time, Bill served as president, chief operating officer and a director of Medical Care America. He received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his master’s degree in health systems management from Tulane University.

    Group President, Operations
    Johnny joined USPI in 1999 as Senior Vice President (SVP), Operations and became Group President in July 2014. Prior to joining USPI, Johnny was SVP Operations for Physician Resource Group, Inc. and Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation and served in various capabilities for Medical Care America, Inc. including: Operations, Development, Finance, Investor Relations and in Administration. Johnny received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin
  • David Bordofske
    Chief Information Officer
    David joined USPI in November 2016 as the Chief Information Officer. He has overall responsibility for technology strategy and information systems to meet clinical and operational needs across USPI and its affiliates. David is also the Vice President and CIO for Non-Acute Business Units for Tenet Healthcare which he joined in 1997. David attended Abilene Christian University and San Angelo State University and has over 30 years of experience in developing and managing IT solutions for a variety of health care operations. He is also an active member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
  • Brett Brodnax
    President and Chief Development Officer
    Brett joined USPI in 1999. Since then, he has served as Senior Vice President (SVP), Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Development Officer until most recently when he became President in June of 2011. Prior to joining USPI, Brett was an Assistant Vice President (AVP) at Baylor Health Care System. Brett is a graduate from Texas A&M where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering. He also received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Texas at Dallas.
  • Kyle Burtnett
    President of Ambulatory Services & Chief Integration Officer
    Kyle joined USPI in June 2015. Previously, Burtnett served as Senior Vice President of Tenet Healthcare Corporation's Outpatient Services Division, overseeing the development and management of Tenet's ambulatory surgery centers, urgent care centers and diagnostic centers. He is a former board member of Downtown Dallas, Inc. and a member of the Greater Dallas Chamber 2008 Leadership Class, a program designed to promote leadership and civic involvement. Burtnett earned a B.S. in Management from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1998, and a MBA from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business, in 2003.
  • Jason Cagle
    Chief Financial Officer
    Jason joined USPI in January 2003 and became its Chief Financial Officer in February 2013. He previously served as USPI’s General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Acquisitions. Prior to joining USPI, Jason was an attorney with Vinson & Elkins, LLP in the Corporate and Securities section. Jason graduated with a B.B.S. in both accounting and finance from Oklahoma State University before graduating from the University of Oklahoma School of Law with highest honors.
  • Mark Garvin
    Group President, Operations
    Mark joined USPI in 2001. He has participated in numerous senior operational roles including Senior Vice President (SVP) Operations and Chief Operations Officer (COO). He joined USPI through the acquisition of OrthoLink Physicians Corporation where he was a founding member of the senior management team. Mark completed his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing at the University of Kentucky® and his MBA at the University of South Carolina.
  • Andy Johnston
    Group President, Operations
    Andy has been a member of the USPI team since 2001 through the acquisition of OrthoLink Physicians Corporation where he served as Vice President (VP), Clinic Operations, 1997-2001. Since 2001, he has served as Regional Vice President of Operations, Senior Vice President (SVP), Development and SVP, Operations. Andy graduated from Brown University and received his Master of Healthcare Administration from Duke University.
  • Sandi Karrmann
    Chief Human Resources Officer and Support Services Officer
    Sandi has served in numerous leadership positions in human resources over the years. Prior to USPI, she was with Yum Brands as Chief People Officer for Yum! Restaurants International, Chief People Officer for Pizza Hut® and Chief Human Resources Officer for Meritage Homes®. In addition, she spent 13 years with PepsiCo® in their Frito-Lay® and Taco Bell® Divisions. Sandi completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology and communications from the University of Michigan and her MBA in finance from the University of Southern California.
  • Marian Lowe
    Senior Vice President, Strategy
    Marian joined USPI in September 2013. Prior to joining USPI, she was a partner at a health care consulting company in Washington, DC. During her tenure in Washington, she advised major health systems and ambulatory providers on emerging payment models. Marian received her undergraduate degree in biology and pre-veterinary medicine from the University of Findlay and her MBA from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.
  • Stuart Simon, MD
    Medical Director
    Dr. Simon is a member of the Pinnacle Clinical Governance Board and is Co-Divisional Manager of Physicians Anesthesia Practice. He serves as a member of the Pinnacle Human Resources Committee. Dr. Simon has been an Attending Anesthesiologist at Baylor University Medical Center for over 20 years and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He is currently Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at North Central Surgical Center and has been the Medical Director of that institution since its inception. He is the Physician Champion for United Surgical Partners International for the development and implementation of the electronic health record. Dr. Simon received his medical degree from The University of Mississippi School of Medicine.

    Senior Vice President, Clinical Operations
    Ann has been with USPI since 2003 and has over 25 years of experience in the health care industry, materials management and strategic initiatives. She graduated summa cum laude from Wright State University with her bachelor’s in nursing, and received her master’s in nursing with honors from Benedictine University®.
  • Phil Spencer
    Executive Vice President of Business Development
    Phil joined USPI in 2009. Prior to joining USPI, he was President of Anatomic Pathology Services for AmeriPath®, Inc. Phil has also served in sales, marketing and business development executive positions. Phil graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Arizona® and received his MBA from the University of Dallas.
  • Tiffany Thompson
    Chief Compliance Officer
    Tiffany joined USPI in 2015. Tiffany was previously the Compliance Director and Privacy Officer for Tenet’s Outpatient Services Division in Dallas, Texas. Prior to her role at Tenet, Tiffany was formally with Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska where she served as the Hospital Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer. Tiffany is a graduate from the University of Iowa, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science; Drake University with a Masters in Public Administration with Healthcare Specialization and a Certificate in Accounting from Simpson College. Tiffany is certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC).
  • Daphne Walker
    Chief Legal Officer
    Daphne joined USPI as its Deputy General Counsel in June of 2015 and was promoted to Chief Legal Officer in January of 2017. Prior to the joining USPI, she served as Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s Assistant General Counsel of Outpatient Services. She brings more than twenty years of healthcare experience to her legal practice, having practiced as a registered nurse, and serving in roles as a hospital administrator, performance improvement manager and Chief Nursing Officer. Daphne holds a Juris Doctor from the SMU Dedman School of Law where she was named as a Sarah T. Hughes Diversity Fellow. She holds a bachelor of science in nursing from West Texas A&M University.
